Steve Miholovich, CEO   

Steve is the owner and CEO of Name Arena.  He has been in the domain industry since 2002 and prior to launching Name Arena, he spent ten years working with an enterprise domain registrar, Safenames. He worked with large corporate brands and global startups to provide strategic guidance on domain names and brand launches.  Steve personally handled over thirty domain sales transactions with a six-figure sale price and thousands of smaller transactions.  He been involved with tens of thousands of domain names that have been bought, sold and auctioned through his career. 

Steve was formerly the Senior Director of Product Management for Network Solutions and served at the company from 2002 to 2008.  He was responsible for managing its domain name business line, advanced domain services, secondary domain market products. He launched products such as the patented Certified Offer Service and was the co-founder of NameJet, one of the world’s largest domain name auction services. Steve has worked on Internet related products for over twenty-five years and has been active in the Registrar Constituency within ICANN and within the INTA, the International Trademark Association, community.

Prior to entering the domain name industry, Steve spent eleven years at MCI Telecommunications in a number of marketing management positions including Internet marketing manager and audio conferencing senior product manager.  Steve launched MCI’s first consumer Internet service, MCI Internet in 1996 and had been working on Internet related products and services throughout his entire professional career.

Q: How long will it take to acquire a domain?

A:  It is impossible to predict an exact timeline to close a domain purchase. Each domain acquisition is unique.  There are a variety of circumstances that may include if the domain name is for sale, who the registrant of the domain is, whether the WHOIS contact information is accurate and how the domain is being used are just some examples that influence the timing of a purchase in the secondary market.  Name Arena will attempt to contact the current registrant within 24-48 hours to initiate negotiations. It is important to note that turn- around time is expedited when a potential seller is engaged in the process.  Therefore, engagement is critical to the success of the transaction.  On average, a transaction can be completed in 7-10 days.  In some case, it could even take months.

Q: How do I set my budget for my domain?

A: Name Arena offers a domain name valuation service that  provides guidance to a buyer or sell on the fair market value (FMV) of a domain name to help determine your budget  or.  However, the final purchase price will be determined through negotiation with the seller.  Sellers often think that the value of the domain name is much high than the assessed FMV. 

Q: How do I know that you will try to get use the lowest buy price?

A: Name Arena values its clients and will always  do our best to obtain domains for the lowest possible price.  Name Arena relies on referrals to generate new business, so we will always do our best to make our clients happy and save them money.

Q: Can I get a domain inexpensively if it is not being used?

A: The value of a domain name is determined by many factors; however you have a better chance to acquire a domain name if it’s not being used.  But, just because someone is not using a domain name does not mean it can be acquired for a few hundred dollars.  Therefore, it’s important to have a domain name valuation conducted as your first step in the acquisition process.  It will help you determine if it’s realistic for you to buy a domain name.
